NOTES

To elaborate our model we removed uncertain localities such as those localities with no coordinates and all records with coordinates laying down in sites with estimated elevations below 400 m and above 3,140 m.

The habitat suitability model generated in Maxent showed some areas suitable in climatic terms for this species in serrania de La Macarena, serrania de San Lucas and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Those areas are not known to be occupied by this species and were deleted from our final potential distribution map.

Distribution of specimens according to BioMap suggest several zones of intergradation in the southern Andes. A first possible zone of intergradation (9,859 km2) between subspecies columbiana and obscura in the 'Bota Caucana' and north along the border between the departments of Huila and Cauca. A second possible zone of intergradation (13,279 km2) between subspecies columbiana and ferruginea from southern Caldas south along western Tolima and along the border between the departments of Huila and Cauca to eastern central Cauca. Finally, a third possible zone of intergradation (1,592 km2) between subspecies ferruginea and obscura in east Cauca and southwest Huila.

The southern portion of the eastern slope of the Central Andes needs collections to clarify better if both subspecies ferruginea and columbiana are present. Equally, are necessary collections in the western Andes of Nariño to confirm the presence of subspecies ferruginea.

Assuming that the distribution of the species may have filled the complete climatic model generated, its distribution today in remnants of forest is about 72,335 km2, which corresponds to a loss of 61 % of its potential original distribution due to deforestation.
