Oreotrochilus chimborazo

NOTES

To elaborate our model we produced five pseudoreplicas of the only point locality we found for this species in the country in EBIRD. The new points were located at approximate 1-2 km north, northeast, east, southeast and south from the original locality. The original locality was placed at 3,384 m which is slightly below the reported elevational range for this species in Colombia (3,600-4,600 m).

The habitat suitability model generated in Maxent showed a few sparse areas suitable in climatic terms for this species in the Central Andes and the Eastern Andes. Areas not near Chiles/Cumbal volcanoes complex were excluded from the potential distribution map of this hummingbird.

Areas classified as marginally suitable in our map seem isolated from the main group of areas in the Chiles/Cumbal volcanoes complex and may be less likely to be occupied by this hummingbird.
