Lophornis stictolophus

NOTES

To elaborate our models we removed uncertain localities such as 'Bogota skins', those localities with no coordinates and all records with coordinates laying down in sites with estimated elevations below 400 m and above 1,200 m.

The habitat suitability model generated in Maxent showed areas suitable in climatic terms for this hummingbird extensively in the Andes, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and adjacent lowlands and even in the Amazonia. Most of these areas are not known to be occupied by this hummingbird and were deleted from our final potential distribution map, limiting it in its extended version to the Eastern Andes and the high Magdalena Valley. Areas were identified to reflect climatic suitability and areas inside and outside the area most likely area to be part of the distribution of this hummingbird according to the known localities.

Assuming that the distribution of the species may have filled the complete climatic model generated in its extended version, its distribution today in remnants of forest is about 24,236 km2, which corresponds to a loss of 62 % of its potential original distribution due to deforestation. In its restricted version some 9,990 km2, which corresponds to a loss of 60 % of its potential original distribution due to deforestation.
